Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: How do you keep track of shows you have and want?

I have an excel spreadsheet that has a list of songs by alphabetical order. To the right of each song are dates in chronological order that I love.

If I listen to something I like and think is worthy of remembering I will place the date in the spreadsheet and highlight it in red. After enough listens and some analysis it will get put in black.

I plan on developing a ranking system that will use colors, italizing and bolding. Though that will be later down the road.

I don't think keeping track of shows is really a worthwhile cause. Many shows contain a gem of their own but many are just not that great overall. Therefore I think you can be more precise by judging song by song. Not show by show.

It will be nice to use down the road but I've been searching for some much new material and additions to the list that I haven't had the chance to use it as a reference guide (which was my original idea, along with giving it to those interested in the dead that wanna hear more). LIke hmm, I wanna hear a good, lets say LIG hah, and I will look through the dates and pick one I've forgotten about.

I've done some notetaking (mostly for my morning dew searching) but as of now my bread and butter method is this spreadsheet.
